These FREE and FUN activities will focus on health, nutrition and fitness, all generously created by our local community! Don’t miss the Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt, coloring table or maybe our resident face painter, Jerry Douglas, will be there as well! It’s always a fun time for the whole family at the Market!

Annual Labor Day Bridge WalkThe 2023 Annual Bridge Walk is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 4, 2023. The Mackinac Bridge will be closed to public traffic from 6:30 a.m. to noon on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023 to accommodate the 2023 Annual Bridge Walk.

Celebrate AlansonFestivities this Labor Day in Alanson on the Crooked River.  America’s shortest swing bridge walk, led by the Rivertown Jazz Band will happen at 1:00pm sharp, Mon. September 4th.  Festivities all day from 10:00 am to 5:00pm with two bands, arts and crafts, a bouncy house and face painting for the kids.  Also, free boat rides on the Crooked River aboard the Marilyn Jean, a “riverboat” replica from the late 1,800’s.  Take U.S. 31 to River Street in Alanson.

Eight Mile Run & Walk 52nd anniversary of this exciting, summer-ending event. You will experience Mackinac Island in one of the oldest and most scenic races in Michigan. The Island is a unique destination that can only be reached by ferry. Step back in time to a bygone era where travel is done by foot, bicycle, carriage or horse. With up to 1,800 runners and walkers, this is definitely a race you and your family will never forget!

Lavender Hill Sunflower Festival & Barn MarketLavender Hill Farm’s second annual Sunflower Festival! Pack a blanket or lawn chair and go for the day. Attend a yoga class, take a guided sunflower tour, paint a pumpkin, shop the Barn Market, and listen to live music while you play lawn games and enjoy food and drink. There is no charge to visit and explore our farm.

Taste of Harbor SpringsEntry and Drink Tickets sold before Monday, September 11, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. are $35.00 and $5.00.  After 5:00 pm, Monday, September 11th through September 16, 2023, and at the door, tickets are $50.00 and $7.00.  As always, we are limited to 750 maximum ticket sales.  NOTE: we have sold out in the past.  Advance ticket purchase is strongly recommended.

4th Annual Balloons Over Bay HarborSAVE THE DATE for the 4th annual Balloons Over Bay Harbor which will take place in the Village at Bay Harbor, September 22nd and 23rd. Hosting some of the best pilots in the nation who compete in national festivals across the country, there will be a schedule of flight activity throughout the weekend, so keep your “eyes to the skies” to see the beautiful balloons. There will also be “night glows” where the balloons will light up while grounded on both Friday and Saturday evenings beginning at 8pm. There is truly no other event like this in Northern Michigan!  Get up close as the pilots inflate their balloons right before your eyes on our Marina Lawns, it is truly an exhilarating experience.
