Camp Petosega’s 5K Fun RunJoin Emmet County Parks and Recreation for a non-competitive 5K run and walk for all ages which will benefit our local parks and facilities. Buffalo Rose at Lavender Hill FarmBuffalo Rose is a wildly charismatic six-piece modern folk/Americana band from Pittsburgh, PA. The Young Americans Dinner TheatreThe Highlands is celebrating the 45th Anniversary of The Young Americans’ Dinner Theatre, a popular tradition in northern Michigan. The Young Americans ensemble is made up of young performers from across the U.S who perform on stage, singing and dancing to a live band, while guests enjoy a dinner designed by our chef alongside a Broadway-style performance. This year’s celebration will include a tribute to Stephen Sondheim, a renowned composer and lyricist known for his sophisticated and complex work in reinventing the American musical. Shanty Creek’s 60th Anniversary Fireworks DisplayJoin Shanty Creek for a fireworks display, celebrating its 60th Anniversary.

Taking place at dusk (usually around 10:20pm), this fireworks display overlooking beautiful Lake Bellaire will be a fantastic celebration of the Resort’s heritage.

Bring your blanket or lawn chairs. The fireworks display will be located behind the Lakeview Hotel.

Michilimackinac Fire at NightThis will be one of the coolest things you see all summer. Experience the power of Michilimackinac’s weapons at night. Gates open at 9:00 p.m. Rifle firing will start at dusk; cannon firing will be after dark. This is a free event; donations are welcome.

Straits Area Concert BandThe Straits Area Concert Band was formed by Doctor Raymond Roth in 1983 to provide an opportunity for interested instrumentalists in the area to perform band literature and provide entertainment for local residents as well as tourists to the area.
Membership in the band covers a wide range of backgrounds which includes engineers, nurses, school teachers, doctors, senior citizens, bankers, camp councilors, housewives, and college and high school students.
Ages range from 13 to 85.
The band is a self-sustaining organization.

Blissfest 2023The Annual Blissfest Music Festival is a celebration of music, culture, art, and community featuring a world of diverse and innovative folk, world and roots music, and dance at the Festival Farm in picturesque rural northern Michigan.
Taking place in July, it’s the quintessential Michigan summer experience. Festival-goers enjoy being outside on the expansive lawn, in the shade of the woods, and feeling the breeze from nearby Lake Michigan. Don’t forget to look up either! You can enjoy sunsets, watch the moon rise or set, see the Milky Way from the Back 40 campground, and you might get lucky and see the Northern Lights over the Main Stage.

Lavender Fest Fridays at Lavender Hill FarmBring the whole family for Friday fun on the farm! Frybread FundraiserThe Burt Lake Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians will hold a Frybread Fundraiser on July 9, 2023, from Noon to 5:00 p.m. at the Pellston Historical Society Museum in downtown Pellston on M-31. Authentic frybread, corn soup, and drinks will be sold to raise funds for a community center for the Band. Band members will be using ancestral recipes to create this authentic meal to share with the community. The Burt Lake Band tribal council is in Brutus, Michigan. Shay DaysThe Harbor Springs Area Historical Society presents Shay Days 2023! This two-day, family-friendly event, now in its 25th year, celebrates inventor and Harbor Springs resident Ephraim Shay. Famous for his patented, geared locomotive, Shay also designed Harbor Springs’ first city waterworks system, constructed a logging railway, and built his unique Hexagon House.

We will host a variety of activities and educational programs this year, including:
• Live model steam trains with the Michigan Small Scale Live Steamers
• Two electric train setups at the History Museum with the Northern Michigan Model Railroad Club
• A walking tour through downtown
• Children’s crafts and STEM activities in Shay Park
• Logging demonstrations with Kyle Bagnall of Mackinac State Historic Parks
• Presentation with musician and historian Bill Jamerson

Shay Days is offered free of charge, though donations are appreciated. Activities take place at both Shay Park and the Harbor Springs History Museum.

Bay Harbor Arts FestivalCelebrating the 23rd year hosting artists from across the country with a true festival atmosphere celebrating the arts. Held along the waterfront on the Marina Lawns, the Arts Festival will take place both Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 5pm and have a collection of fine, juried artists as well as a selection of green market artisans. Live music, children’s activities, food vendors, and more will be a part of the festival.

Cruise-In Car ShowEmmet County Parks and Recreation is hosting a car show at the Emmet County Fairgrounds on Sunday, July 23, from 10 AM to 1 PM. Gates open at 9 AM the day of the event for vehicle registration. You can preregister or register same day. A variety of makes and models will fill the Fairgrounds for automobile enthusiasts to appreciate at this Cruise-in Car Show! Admission to the event is free for the general public. Participants will be required to pay a $15 fee per vehicle entered. Trophies will be awarded with door prizes given out throughout the day. Raffle – Nub’s Nob Green Lift ChairThere is big news at Nub’s Nob! This summer they will be replacing the Green Chair lift, which has been their workhorse chairlift since 1978.   Here is your opportunity to win a retired Green Lift Chair from Nub’s Nob, while also helping the Harbor Springs Area Chamber of Commerce.

The historic Green Chairlift served Nub’s skiers for more than 45 years and made its farewell run in 2022/23. The Green Chairlift was installed in 1978. Ben Doornbos, Nub’s Nob General Manager – We are proud to announce that the new lift is being built and designed right here in the United States by Sky Trac. The new lift will be a fixed-grip quad, similar to the existing Green but featuring significant upgrades.

For $100 you may purchase one of only 100 raffle tickets for the chance to win a retired Green Lift Chair. This rare, priceless prize is available thanks to the generosity of Nub’s Nob, which donated the chair.

Join Professor Norbert Vance from the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Eastern Michigan University for a talk that is a purview of many of these publicly accessible gems found in every corner of Michigan. A short description of the total solar eclipse of April 2024 will also be given. It’s never too early to start planning!
