About Mary Ellen Hughes –

Mary Ellen was the driving force behind the Taste of Harbor Springs. A member of the Harbor Springs Chamber of Commerce, Mary Ellen was a part of a group challenged to assist in brain storming for events in the “off-peak” seasons. Mary Ellen thought up “Taste of Harbor Springs,” and in 1994 it became a reality.

Mary Ellen had a long history in the Harbor Springs culinary scene having owned The Crow’s Nest, Harmon’s Specialties, and Mary Ellen’s Place – “Where Good Friends Meet” which closed in 2015 (Now the location of the Paper Station Bistro.) She also spent many years on the Harbor Springs City Planning Commission and the Downtown Development Authority, she even ran for Mayor of Harbor Springs in 2018.
